This past Sunday, I had the honor to speak to my friends at Influence Culture. In my opinion, my husband is one of the best communicators on the planet, so it’s a BIG deal for me when he asks me to speak. Over the past few weeks, he has been going into great detail about my back seat driving skills! I’ve been giving him a hard time about it and threatening to give my side of the story the first chance I get!
The funny thing is, his side of the story is the real story–I’m a horrible back seat driver. No matter how hard I try, I’m always ‘warning’ BJ of stopped cars, crazy drivers, and potential dangers on the road. He’s super patient with me (most of the time) and I am really working on not being so crazy.
So, when I was asked to speak, I decided to speak on the subject of ROAD TRIPS. Road trips and our life draw many parallels.
When we set out on a journey or a new journey, we never get excited about potential delays, hazards of even a change of plans.
But no matter how much we plan or prepare, some delays or change of plans are inevitable. In fact, many times they are a result in trusting God with our lives. When we desire for God’s will to be done in our lives, He often changes our plans.
But, a change in plans doesn’t mean a change in promise. Even though our “Plan A” changes, doesn’t mean that God has changed His mind about us. Much like a GPS, it simply means He is re routing us to a better route. This route doesn’t always make sense and there are no guarantees you are going to avoid traffic–but it’s going to be the best route to not only get us where we are going, but moving us towards who He wants us to be.
So, when we experience a change of plans, we can trust that He is in control! When things don’t happen the way we thought they would, rest assure, His ways are higher than ours–He’s got us. And although it might not be the route we thought it would be, we are still going to get to where we are going.
There’s more where that came from…. Here’s the link to my message this past Sunday, Road Trip.
Every week, I highlight a TRUTH about you, your life, or about a situation you may be facing, and then I DARE you to believe it.
TRUTH:
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
DARE:
Dont be a crazy back seat driver (like me).
